There was a rally outside of the local college, people were advocating for pro-mutant rights. Right along the front lines was Haruhi herself. She held a sign that read: Mutants are Humans too. She was passionately moved by the subject namely for her sister's sake. There were dangerous mutants out there but there were also dangerous humans. Could these mutants really be blamed for 'bad genetics' and hunted down like dogs? No. It wasn't fair to them. The country preached liberty and justice and honor but what they were doing was stripping those liberties, punishing without justifiable cause and dishonoring the people they were supposed to protect and serve. However, the peaceful protest ended when FROGS came in with tear gas and rubber bullets. Haruhi dropped her sign and ran like many of the other protesters. She escaped into an alley to avoid being arrested.

Terry had watched from the rooftop as the chaos unfold in front of him and he shook his head. He had seen many rallies and they had all gone the same way, with FROGS showing up and a good bit of people ending up in jail for "crimes" that FROGS claimed were dangerous to the community. Terry never understood why FROGS was aggressive against humans that were for mutant rights, since they controlled most of the media outlets and most people believed them. His eyes spotted one person in particular who had ducked into an alley. He decided to follow her since she looked oddly familiar. Terry hopped to the next building and then scaled down the fire escape. His father usually required him to wear his suit whenever he left FROGS headquarters, but Terry often found ways of getting out without it. Terry leapt down landing a few feet from the girl. "You had quite a crowd out there." Once Terry saw her face he remembered hearing about the girl spear heading much of the mutant rights groups. "I believe your name is Haruhi, is it not?"

Haruhi jolted when she heard someone talking to her. She thought she had gotten away without anyone noticing her. She supposed it was a good thing of being as small as she was. When they said her name she slowly reached for the mace in her back pocket. Because he recognized her, it could be a good thing for her or it could be a very bad thing for her. For all she knew he was a plain clothed FROG trying to arrest her for 'civil disobedience' like they were doing of a few of the slower protesters. "And if I am?" she asked. "Who are you?"

Terry smirked as the girl jumped and reached for something, he could only assume was mace or a taser. "I'm honestly surprised you don't recognize me. My old man is good at keeping me out of the media, but its still hard to go anywhere without being recognized as the son of one of the most powerful industries the world has seen. Terry stepped out of the shadows to reveal his face. He knew that Haruhi would be well aware of the name Terry Wayne the son of FROGS head chairman Bruce Wayne.

Haruhi's fingers curled around her mace. She straightened up and stood tall. "What can I do for you Mr. Wayne?" Haruhi asked. "Last I checked we still had the right to a peaceful protest and the freedom of speech." She offered him a smile, though it felt forced. It was a passable smile though.

Terry chuckled at her words. Technically speaking, since Terry was a mutant he didn't have either but that was a well kept company secret. "Please just call me Terry. I was in the neighborhood and when I saw you slip away I had to catch up so we could talk." Terry could see the girl was very tense and uneasy, and to put her at ease he raised his hands. "I'm not armed and I'm completely alone. All I want to do is talk and we can do so on your terms. I have some quizzical questions which have been passing through my mind and I was wondering if your experience could assist me with their answers."

"I see..." Haruhi said. She still didn't trust him. But as she looked over his shoulder to the crowd that was still being harassed by the FROGS, she didn't see what choice she had. All it would take was him calling out to the Police and Haruhi would spend a light in lockup. Hard to be a lawyer with a criminal record. "Fine. But we're not doing this here." She motioned for him to follow her. They could head to the school library. Two students just walking along the street, as long as no one recognized Terry it should be a flawless plan.

Terry shrugged and put his hands in his pockets. "Fine by me. It really doesn't matter where we have this conversation. Besides if you're with me FROGS will leave you alone. I kinda have a free reign with most FROGS members. If I do something wrong I'll just get repremanded and sent to my room, so don't worry your pretty little head about the brute squad over there." Terry followed behind her as they made their way to the library. Terry's features weren't common knowledge to most people unless they were doing research into the FROGS company and the head chairman.

Haruhi kept her mouth shut until they got to the library and found a secluded spot. She could never be too careful. She was obviously on a list of pro-mutant humans that were risky to the anti-mutant cause. They could try anything they wanted to in order to keep her from practicing law. She couldn't risk that if she wanted to save her sister through legal means. She sat down at a desk and waited for Terry to join her. "You wanted to talk so talk." she told him.

Terry walked over and turned the chair backwards before sitting down. He leaned on the back of the chair and studied Haruhi. "Right to the point I see." Terry reached into his coat pocket and grabbed a cell phone. He flipped through the pictures on his phone until he came across a picture of Namine. He looked at the picture of Namine thinking about her in her cell which made him sad. Truth was he had become really fond of the girl. "Her name is Namine and I've been going to her for information but she only has so much knowledge and I need more." Terry looked around suspiciously for a bit before continuing. "And I can safely say that none of what we talk about will be repeated in any way. I have a personal reason for wanting to know more about mutants."

"Yes well, it's not like you and I are friends," was Haruhi's icy retort. Haruhi did her best to keep her expression schooled upon seeing the image of the imprisoned young girl. She managed to keep her expression neutral. That girl could have been like her sister Sophie. She wasn't that much younger than her sister was anyways. The image nearly broke Haruhi's heart. However, she was in front of Terry so she couldn't show any form of reaction. "And what is it you want to know that even a mutant can't tell you?" Haruhi asked.

"Well when you've spent most of you life in a cage its going to restrict you knowledge on how everyone else does things." Terry knew she obviously would have aggression against him but he didnt care. "I want to know about other mutants, like how do they manifest themselves most often, and whether they stop evolving at some point." Terry began flipping through some notes he had taken from his talks with Namine.

"She wouldn't be limited if she was actually treated like a person not a pet." Haruhi muttered under her breath. She pinched the bridge of her nose. "I've published a few articles over the development of genetic mutation that leads to the formation of enhanced human capability." She whipped out a notepad and wrote down the titles of the articles. "Unfortunately due to the hold your family has on the media they were only published in crack newspapers who thought I was writing scientific satire. But as it is, long story short, mutations are difficult to gauge. They are based off a person's capabilities, personality and the powers they possess. I also can't expand my studies much further than that because FROGS kill mutants. They don't exactly like talking to humans."

Her comment stung a little since Terry had grown quite fond of Namine and had become conflicted over the whole situation, but he began writing as soon as she started speaking. "So you're saying that mutant abilities are very dependant on the person in manifests in." This made sense to Terry since he had seen many different mutants with varrying degrees of mutation. "Here's a more trifcky question. Why do the mutant cells seem to be random? There's nothing specific that seems to happen, and with each case its unique. What could have caused the initial mutations to start happening?"

"That's right," Haruhi replied. "No. That part isn't tricky at all. Mutations are genetic. The cells in the human body can be a dominant or non dominant gene. Non dominant genes are carrying genes. Parents can pass mutated genes to the child. So children can simply be born with a mutation." It was hard to get her hands on that information. She had to bribe a few scientists to get it. She kept those documents locked away somewhere no one would find it. "And there have been incidents where their surroundings have caused mutations. Like radiation or contaminated water that they just happen to be more susceptible to than others." Needless to say, people who were mutants didn't choose to be.
