Saika had waited till the fall of night and the sound of snores from the tents around her echoed like crickets before quietly grabbing her sword and sneaking out into the forest. She had been doing as Slade had advised long ago and trained her mutation on animals. She had started out small like on rabbits and squirrels and eventually got well enough to commanding a wolf to listen to her desires. It was during that wolf training that she wound up with a rather...bizarre pet.
She moved through the trees checking behind her one last time before running further into the thicket of trees.

Alphonse woke up, rubbing sleep from his eyes. His throat was dry and he needed a drink. Pulling on his coat, the air outside was already getting chilly, he stepped outside his tent and headed to get a drink of water, but stopped when he saw Saika sneaking out. He hid behind the trees and began to follow her, wondering where she was going this late at night.

It only took a few minutes to get to the caves that were close to the camp. She took another cautionary look around before approaching the opening to the cave and pulling her sword from it's sheath. She placed two fingers against her lips and blew out a high pitched whistle from the gap into the echoing cave. A deep rumbling following suit not long after.

Alphonse continued to follow, surprised Saika didn't know he was close by. The rumbling from the cave startled him and he gripped the tree he was hiding behind, afraid of what was possibly in the cave.

Slowly, and loudly for that matter, a large beast crept out. This one was much like the one that she had heard some other mutants claiming to have seen, but it seemed to be smaller than the others. Saika held up a hand and allowed the large beast to walk up to her open palm and nuzzle his forehead against it. "Good boy…" she muttered with a slight smile.

Now getting a look at the creature, Alphonse was frozen. It was terrifying. He was too afraid to move, in case the thing heard him run back to camp.

A sudden pang of fear hit Saika like a brick and apparently it had made it's way into the beast's mind as well. It bared it's teeth and snarled loudly, lowering it's body and preparing to spring at whatever was nearby. Saika raised her hand as a way to tell it to calm down for now. "Shhhh, I'll go look. You stay here." She whispered to it. With a huff, it laid down and followed Saika's movements.
The bespectacled mutant focused on the source of fear. She found that it was radiating from behind a tree, but she couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity in the person's mind. "You don't need to hide. I know you're there."

Her eyebrows shot up when Alphonse peeked out into the open. "Oh! Hello Alphonse." She turned to look at the beast, finding it glaring at Alphonse in response to his staring. She carefully turned back around and gave him a small smile. "What, uhm…what are you doing all the way out here?"

Saika kept glancing between the two of them, sighing softly before pointing her sword at the beast. "Please turn around." she commanded, her eyes glowing softly. The beast huffed before obediently turning away from the two of them. She let out another sigh of relief before turning to look at Alphonse. "Please don't tell anyone about him. I'm still trying to train him and I don't want anyone getting hurt." she pleaded.

She placed a hand over her heart and exhaled heavily with relief. Great, she didn't have to worry about that, but she still had another lingering in the back of her mind. "I've been trying to train him to patrol around the camp's perimeters, but he doesn't seem to understand what's friend and what's...uhm food." she said with an exhausted glance back to the beast.

She adjusted her glasses and leaned against the tree he was hiding behind, deciding to trust that the best wouldn't disobey her…not that it could anyway. "Yeah…and I can't just let him go free either. I have a hunching suspicion that the beast that Rena and Shizuo had a run in with was actually his mother." She turned a concerned look over to the beast once more. "Atleast he's been somewhat helpful..."
