Tomoe was cooking some tea for Slade as he did most afternoons, wanting his master to have something to calm him as the evening approached. He had just fixed an excellent brew and was about to deliver a steaming cup with a small biscuit when he was approached by a rather strange mutant to whom he had not seen around. She had a similar scent to a cat he had met and he guessed she was a shifting mutant. He raised an eyebrow, "Yes?"
Rocket smiled sweetly and held her hands out to take the plate with the cup on it. "That's for our fearless leader, right? I'll take it!" She insisted, taking the plate, to which Tomoe let go of by accident. He raised an eyebrow and brought his fan out, "Whatever." He put, a bit annoyed, but at the same time curious.
Rocket promptly left the dinning hall, leaving Tomoe with a curious expression. "Psh, females..." He sighed, a small smirk on his lips as he turned and started doing the dishes. He didn't normally get jealous of the normal camp members, knowing Slade was only closest to Dimitri and him.
Rocket walked to the command tent, the first time she had revealed her human form. She had talked with Slade before and explained her mutation, but it was only recently she trusted them with her human form. She liked to keep it secret to keep her face off of the wanted posters. She knocked on the outside of Slade's tent, the cup of tea in hand and a small smile on her lips. She was wearing a light blue top which complimented her figure, but also had puffed sleeves to hide the strength in her arms. Her pants were tan and showed off well her complexion which was quiet lovely to most, or at least most who she gave the pleasure of showing it to.

Slade was studying a map of the city looking for ways to get in and out quickly with as little visibility as possible. WHen he heard the knock he rolled the map up and set it to the side. He made the mistake once of trying to drink tea and an emergency happened and he spilled it all over his map. He figured it was just Tomoe with his tea, "Come in Tomoe, I wanted to talk to you so I hope you don't have any other plans for a while." The figure who entered however was not Tomoe and when Slade looked to the doorway it was the last person he expected and he didn't know what to say to this person who had just entered his tent. Admitedly he noticed she was rather attractive but also that she was young. She was holding his tea which made him curious why she was bringing it to him. "Is Tomoe alright?" He wanted to make sure Tomoe wasn't hurt and couldn't bring it to him.

Rocket gave him a wide half smile and walked comfortably over to his desk. She set the cup down and moved back a bit. "Tomoe's fine, I just thought I would pay you a visit, say hi, haven't seen you." She smiled, sitting down on the chair beside his and leaning her arms back against his desk. She pulled one leg over her knee, "It's Rocket, by the way. I know last time we met, I wasn't so-" She stood up and looked over herself, then back to Slade. "Biped?" She wondered if that was the word she wanted. She set back down and smiled a bit, "So, Slade, you must be the ugliest man in the world, hiding your face like that." She teased, but then became serious for a moment, reaching out her hand to touch his mask. "You talk a lot about being proud of our mutation, but why do you hide yours?"

Slade took a second to process all the words she had just spoken to him. He was glad ro hear Tomoe was ok but he was still curious about this girl. "Well its good to see you again Rocket. I'm glad to see you;re adapting well to the camp." Her question about his suit was one he had heard before and he let her touch it but her statement about his mutant pride made him think. "Well honestly the suit has nothing to do with my mutation. It was a gift from an old friend and the mask is more for hiding my identiy to keep important information from getting out." He had always been proud of being a mutant even when he wasn't a nice person he still loved his mutation. "Mutations are part of who we are and I guess it seems like I hide it because I'm used to keeping it a secret. I've been open with my fellow mutants about many things if they just ask so I hope that answered your question." He realized his answer was kinda scattered and not very conclusive. "What about you Rocket? What do you think of the camp so far? Anything too complicated?"

Rocket was a bit bored by the answer, but his manner of speaking was a little adorable. She wasn't sure why, but he reminded her of some big father to all the mutants. She looked away from him, "Yes, cats have the habit of making a home of any place." Rocket reminded him. She smiled again at his question, and was a bit annoyed he was still treating her like all the other mutants who came into his camp. She hated being another number, or student. She excelled greatly against her father and her other assassin mentor. Rocket swallowed and looked back over, remembering she had been moving her hand over his mask and to where his cheek should have been. She retracted her hand and leaned it against the desk again. "Complicated? Nope. I adjust well." She put plainly.
She looked over him, "So, you want to hide who you are from us? I guess that's fair, your camp your rules." Rocket crossed her arms. "I mentioned my father, before, I think. Well, when they came and took my mother, it was the first time I experienced fear. My father, though, took me shortly afterwards and gave me a telescope. He put me on a hill and told me to stay there. I watched him murder one of the men who had taken my mother." Her eyes became serious and she looked over to him, knowing he had probably heard many horrible stories. "That was the day I learned that people were just people. Mutants did bad things, and humans could do good things."
She shifted and moved her hand out to look over her fingers that were exposed. "Long time ago my color made some people cringe. Now it's my mutation. So strange, isn't it?" She smiled warmly, "What I mean is, you have nothing to be afraid of, if you're concerned. I think we all wear masks. Beautiful is a word that encompasses many features." She put her finger between the eyes of the mask, "And to me, you look a whole lot like a present waiting to be opened." She grinned and retracted her finger.

Slade listened to her abd was intrigued by her way of thinking. He story though unique was still a story about a dark past which many mutants had. This girl obviouslt wanted to prove something and he was willing to let her do just that. Slade looked down at his tea and slipped the lower half of his mask setting it on the table, He lifted the cup to his lips and took a sip. He smiled gratefully for Tomoe's tea which he made. Slade listened to her more and he watched her put her finger to his mask. Her comment made him think and she seemed very intriguing. "Well rocket. What if I was all nasty and distgusting underneath this? Would it change how you think of me?" Slade took another sip and a small strand of white hair poked out. "To tell you the truth Rocket I'm not disgusting but I don't like to see the face that looks back at me. Its the face of the past that I no longer want to be. This is one of my ways of dealing with me past. There are many reason but in the end I still end up with this mask on my face."

"Daddy always said only Jesus and Cats don't judge." She quoted, "I'm certainly not the former, but lucky I'm the later." She smiled widely, then watched him put the mask on the desk and stared at his lips as he drank the tea and asked her if it would make a difference to be nasty and ugly. "Is that so?" She whispered, mostly to herself. "Well, little bunny, it would make kissing you a bit harder, but if you're not interested in that then what would it matter?" She teased, smiling in a sly manner and leaning back to look up at the top of the tent. She noticed the white hair out of the mask, but it wasn't one of an old man, it looked more like a natural albino. She smiled when he told her he wasn't disgusting at all, but instead afraid of the past. "Well, when we're disgusted with how we look, it seems the problem lies in the eyes. Sometimes we just have to get some new ones." She lost her smile and the seriousness returned. " Do you need my eyes, Slade?" She wondered, moving her hand to cover his mask, wondering if he could even see out of it, or if her efforts were for naught. "Mine work just fine, if you need to look through them."

Slade gave the girl a smile before finishing his tea and placing the mask back over his face locking it into place. He hadn't expected this reaction and it had been a long time since any girl had given him this sort of attention and he was out of practice. In his younger days he had used his ways to trop female mutants and deliever them to F.R.O.G.S. and watch them scream as they were dragged away. "Well Rocket, I've still got one good eye and it sees more than I'd like, but I also have the help of my friends to see the true light and I help them as well." He reached over behind his desk and pulled out a knife and placed it on the table. "This knife is very important to me. It's a reminder about who I am and why I do what I do."

Rocket took back her hand and looked away from Slade. He seemed alright then, and now just sort of bored her. She smiled at the thought, realizing not even the leader of the camp could keep up with her. Rocket looked over at the knife, examining it carefully. "And what if say, all the goals you wanted to accomplish failed, and all the things your fought for had perished. What would you hold onto then?" She wondered, her eyes playfully staring into his own, the look a bit dangerous. She wasn't much one for objects holding her to the ones she loved.

Slade looked down at the knife which was the only object that had been from his world. Slade ran his hand down the blade as he remembered how it was stabbed into his back during his last moments in his timeline. He heard her words and he almost had to smile to himself. Those were his fears but at the same time he had felt those feelings. Slade looked over at a photo of himself with Dimitri and Tomoe. "I've actually already failed and lost everything and I've been given a second chance to prevent it from happening again. I won't let it happen.. I can't let it happen. If I let it happen again then I've done all this work for nothing and I will have made the wrong decision and my mentor will have died in vain and his faith will have been misplaced." Slade wasn't upset but he could feel the tension in his voice and he sighed shaking his head. "You really want to see what lies behind this mask?"

Rocket looked over at the picture, then down at the ground. She had heard that Slade was from the future, yes, but the idea had always made her uncomfortable. "My father used to say that the future was more like a lake. You can ripple it, but after all the chaos clears, it really doesn't change." She sighed, knowing it was bleak, but it was her father's philosophy. "Me? I think why would you be allowed to come back if nothing would change? Seems to me, God's on your side." She smiled, trying to comfort him. Her face became serious again when he asked her about her overwhelming curiosity. "Perhaps I already do?" She suggested.

Her words about her father caused him to faulter. He couldn't believe that it was true, and when he heard her opinion on the matter it reassured him. He reached around his mask and unclipped it removing it from his head and placing it on the table. "I want this face to be forgotten to me but I don't see myself being able to detach myself from it." Slade remembered back to when he had first taken a mental trip with Dimitri during one of his many lessons and had wripped off his own face after an encounter with a mirror that Dimitri had showed to him. Many of the lessons he had gone through were kind and patient but that particular one needed to be done the way it was to truly get through to him at that time.

Her eyes were wide as he removed his mask and set it on the table. She stared at the mask awhile, before returning to his face. She gave an unreadable expression, taking in the details, as she was trained to do. Rocket rose from the chair and bent down by his, placing a hand on his cheek. She gave him a sly smile, as if she were about to laugh, then leaned over and kissed his jaw line just below his cheek. She pulled back, and set on the floor in an Indian style. "Was it soft?" She wondered, looking over his lips, then to his eyes. "If you were to forget your face now, you wouldn't remember it." She reminded him. "Guess sometimes you have to take the good with the bad, huh?"

Slade didn't move as she inspected his face and kissed his cheek. He could see that he had made the right decision and that it had been worth showing his face to her. He put a hand on his helmet and lifted it back up to put it back on his face. He paused when she asked the question and he thought for a moment. He smiled at her and tapped his cheek. "I've never recieved a kiss that wasn't." Slade thought about the good and bad which he had to live with and he decided that it didn't matter. "Good, bad, doesn't matter to me. I'm just here to bring a different future for the mutants and hopefully when its all over I'll just slip into legend knowing that I've left the world better than when I recieved it."

Rocket rose to her feet at that, tilting her head a bit. "Oh, I hadn't pegged you for a womanizer." She admitted, taking his comment the wrong way. She didn't look hurt, only confused. She smiled a bit and looked toward the DNA, "let's go swimming!" She exclaimed, placing her hand to her waist and changing into a black cat. The cat stood on two legs and held the same dangerous eyes. There was a belt around her waist with a dagger and a short sword. She rushed up his chair and onto his shoulders, then pulled her sword out and pointed toward the exit. "Onward, lady killer!"
