If Charlie thought he was a ninja at sneaking away from Diane anytime he pleased, he was sorely mistaken as Diane was not worried about where he was. Diane calmly was gathering up their dirty dishes. Despite the fact that everything was calm, her thoughts were in rush. It had barely been a few days since they had arrived at the camp, and still the wind rider was a tad nervous that the camp may not be as safe as she hoped. The learn of control is a nice factor and that they do not need to hide who they are is another, but... what if this does not work out.

Slade walked into the dinning tent and began picking up dirty dishes off the table. He stacked them up and carried them over to a large cast iron tub which was stationed in the back corner of the tent. He placed them next to the tub and filled it up with water and began to wash the dishes. He hadn't had enough time to assign chores for the mutants. He just wanted them to settle in first before asking them to do work. He looked around at the faces within the tent many of whom were glancing over at him. There was one face which he recognized and he assumed it was just another ghost from his past and this world's future. He looked down at the water and caught his reflection as he washed a bowl. He never saw the mask in his reflection but everything he had ever done.

Lost in her own thoughts, Diane did not notice that the path she was taking to the large sink, she had seen some people putting them there, was occupied. Bumping into said person knocked her out of her deep thoughts. Jerking her head upwards, she was rather surprised to see that it was the man who had been speaking to everyone that had arrived to the Camp.
Clasping the bowls she straighten up, but barely reached his shoulder, "My apologizes, I did not realize anyone was back here." Diane slightly lean to the right, noticing the large stack behind him, "Oh, um do you need some help?"

Slade looked up when he felt something hit him shaking him out of his own dark thoughs. Slade smiled and chuckled at the woman who had bumped into him. When she offered Slade reached behind him and grabbed a second rag. "I'm never one to turn down a helping hand." He realized that she was another that he recognized even though he wasn't able to place her. He knew he should think back more often and try to remember those he had met in his past so he could help make their future better. "My name is Slade. I remember seeing you at the opening meeting. You had a small boy with you correct?"

Diane grasped the towel, as she slipped in next to him picking up a dish, "I'm Diane and yes, that would be Charlie." She rolled her eyes with a chuckle as she continue, "But that boy certainly got out of this chore." She shrugged, "Guess that falls to us, right?"

Slade rinsed the bowl off and placed it on the nearby table to dry chuckling at her comment. "Well its a pleasure to meet you, and as to the chores I figure I'll give all of you some time before I start trying to give you chores. I'm able to keep up with the small things, and Tomoe and Dimitri help out in their own ways. We can keep up for now but in time we'll call on the camp to help keep it running." Slade didn't mind the chores, in fact he enjoyed them because it was such a humble task and he always felt like he was doing stressful jobs and he enjoyed the change of pace.

Diane paused in washing as she glanced towards Slade before refocusing on her task. When she and Charlie first saw the leaders of the camp, Slade easily stood out amongst the group, not by the garb he wore, but by how intimidating he was. Yet just speaking to him, in this short time, certainly changed that image. Well in Diane's mind, he did, even if it was about something as mundane as chores. She spoke, "That's very noble of you." She set down the plate and picked up another "Its very noble of all of three of you to do this." She shrugged, "The camp."

Slade thought about her calling them noble. Slade had never thought of it as a noble but more as doing what they needed to do. He looked at her and studied her features trying to figure out her future that he knew. "I do what I think will cause a better future. Anything and everything must be done to give this world a better future than what I've seen." That was Slade's reasoning for everything he did. The future he had come from was what haunted his dreams night after night. Slade usually only got about 2 hours of sleep each night and had learned to function with himself that way.

What did he mean by that? Was it part of his mutation or was it something else. Diane's hands slowed in the water before finally stopping, "Sometimes it is hard to do the right thing, especially when sticking out your own neck." Her hands began to move, but more in a distracted manner as she continued, "But whatever you saw, I hope we do what is right."

Slade was wishing for the same dream and hoped that the rest of the camp would have the resolve to do what was right no matter the cost. The thought surprised him as he realized he didn't care if he lived or died, all that Slade cared about was removing the corruption that had been set against mutants and give the mutants a chance to regain their rights as living beings. "I hope we all do the right thing."

In the short time that Diane was talking to the mysterious man known as Slade, she realized many things, but was surprised to realize that he was kind of a sad man. Before she could say anything to comfort him, from the corner of her eye she saw a purple blur. She turned her head and saw Charlie. A very out of breath, with a very freaked out expression, Charlie.
Diane set down her towel, as she cleared her throat, "Excuse me." She leaned out the window as she called out, "C-Charlie?!"
Charlie's head snapped up and he appeared even more freaked out, "D-Diane whatever you hear I DIDN'T DO IT!" And immediately the boy was gone in a flash.
Diane's mouth flapped like a codfish before she groaned in annoyance, "Ooohhh God." She looked back up to Slade, "I-I'm sorry, I gotta go take care of... Whatever he did." She smiled awkwardly, "Kid, right?"
