Dimitri preferred talking to people rather than training them. He didn’t have enough confidence in himself and though Slade told him he was capable of being a good leader, he just couldn’t see it in himself. But he did like the talking with people aspect of it, it was nice to be able to welcome mutants from all situations and reassure them that they were safe now. He liked that aspect of the whole thing the best. As it was, he was enjoying a few minutes of a break from training for just meditating. He did it in the command tent to encourage people to come and talk to him, especially newcomers. Controlling himself was important, of course, but so was maintaining a friendly persona for people. So at the moment he was in the center of the tent cross-legged on the ground with his hands in his lap and eyes closed.

It was strange to be in such a place, Emily thought, as she wandered the camp. She and Maria had been there for a few days, but Emily had been slow to become comfortable. In truth, she still wasn't. A safe place for mutants, truly safe? It was hard to come by and Maria's power made her extremely vulnerable. So she was cautious about the whole situation. Still, she needed to familiarize herself with the place if she and Maria were to decide to truly make a home there.
Coming upon a tent that stood out from the rest, Emily found her curiosity piqued. Was this the command tent, where the three leaders often slipped away to discuss plans? Hmm. Well... She supposed it wouldn't hurt to take a look. They didn't act as if they were hiding anything, after all.
A pale, slender hand reached out and pushed the flaps of the tent open, allowing herself entrance. A few paces in gave her a glimpse of maps, blueprints and lists of all sorts, but what made her stop was the sight of a man sitting in the very center of the room. "Oh," she gasped, a hand clenching close to her chest in surprise. "I apologize, I didn't mean to disturb you."

Dimitri opened his eyes as somebody walked into the room, and got to his feet when the woman noticed him. She was new, he was pretty sure. He didn't remember seeing her before. "What's to disturb? It wasn't doing anything, so you are perfectly fine" he grinned at her and bounced on the balls of his feet before stretching a hand out to shake. "It's named Dimitri, one of the three leaders here. "Glad to make your acquaintance, miss...?"

Emily paused, momentarily confused by the manner in which the man referred himself. It? Strange... But she didn't judge. She'd heard horror stories of mutants being treated as things so often that they referred to themselves as such as well. How awful that must have been. She gave a soft smile in return for his grin and shook his hand. "Very nice to meet you, Dimitri," she said. Once the handshake was over, she pulled hers back and folded it over her other hand in a polite, proper posture. "My name is Emily. Emily Parish. Did I interrupt your... meditation?"

he nodded at her introduction. "It's always liked the name Emily" He told her. Dimitri shrugged at her question. "Not really. It takes an hour a day to meditate, but it likes when people come in. New people especially. And you're new people, so it doesn't mind in the slightest" Dimitri clapped his hands and rubbed them together. "Now, what can it do for you? Do you have any questions or concerns you would like to share? It would love to hear them, It'll answer to the best of it's ability"

A soft blush colored Emily's cheeks at the rather unexpected compliment. Her small smile grew slightly and she tucked a stray lock of hair back into place behind her ear. "I've always liked the name Dimitri," she replied genuinely. She was finding herself intrigued by this man. "To be honest, I... I was just curious about what this tent looked like on the inside. Maria and I only arrived three days ago, so we've been trying to adjust, I suppose." She paused for a moment as she considered any questions she might have wanted to ask. "I suppose, to start, I'd like to know if there's a doctor here, in case of a medical emergency."

He bobbed his head in acknowledgment of her compliment. "Thank you, it supposes it has a nice name" Dimitri chuckled and shrugged. "There's nothing to hide here. Though we do have some private matters that aren't always meant for everyone else's ears immediately here. Like methods of staying under the radar. We discuss and then share our decided best course of action" He grinned at her and shrugged. "Maybe, not sure. There have been so many new mutants coming in, It might have missed some. It doesn't speak to all the new ones. You might need to ask Slade or Tomoe if there are" he tilted his head. "are you one? We can never have to many doctors you know" except the bad ones, but she didn't seem like a bad one.

Emily noticed that Dimitri seemed caught off guard by her compliment. She was tempted to ask him why he was referring to himself as an 'it' but decided that was a conversation for another time. They had just met, after all, so it didn't feel right to try to pry into what could be a very personal and very painful story. "Slade and Tomoe," she murmured to herself, repeating those two names twice to ensure she remembered. Then she shook her head. "I'm not a doctor, no," she replied with a shrug of her shoulders. "Though I do have some knowledge of basic medical procedures, like stitching up wounds or cauterizing them, and I know a few types of medicine. I'm no expert, but I can help at any time a pair of able hands are needed." She paused to look at a few trinkets that adorned the tent. A moment later, her attention returned to Dimitri. "May I ask what your role here is? Other than a fantastic greeter, of course," she teased.

"Well, a little medical knowledge is better than none" he decided. And since there were so many people coming in, it meant that there was still a chance of getting a real doctor eventually. He giggled at her tease and shrugged before crossing his arms and using one hand to tap his chin. "It's one of the three leaders and trainers"p he told her humbly, not mentioning that he was also terrified of screwing up and getting everyone killed. "It likes meeting everyone, which is why it is such a good greeter"
