Maybe the only thing that Winter could do that was like a satyr was play the pan flute. It had been a hobby before she had gotten her horns and she had always been pretty good at it. Perhaps it had been an indication of what was to come, but as it didn't do anything supernatural, Winter didn't call it a power. Just a skill she picked up. Her pipes trilled over the calm waters of the lake as she worked out a rather merry tune to cheer herself up and whoever might be nearby. She enjoyed it here, it was safe. And even though she had volunteered herself for the tests, was glad to be away from them. Plus, there were people like her in the camp so she didn't feel like such a creep.

Jeri heard a pleasant music on the air and she smiled as she stood there and listened to it. She closed her eyes and nodded her head in time with the soothing music. She found herself following the sounds until she saw a small figure about the same size as her. Jeri waved over to the girl playing. "Hey thats a really pretty song, how do you make it?" Jeri had never seen a real instrument before and it filled her eyes with wonder.

When movement caught her eye Winter paused her playing and waved at the other girl, who seemed about her own age, maybe a little younger. She laughed at the question and handed the girl her pipes. "Thanks! I taught myself that one" she had heard the song on the radio and had figured out how to play it on her pipes. Her big ears made it easy to catch the different notes. "I blow through the different pipes, see? and press on the openings on the side, and it produces music!" she took her pipes back and did a quick little tune to show what she meant.

Jeri hopped happily over to Winter and looked at her pipe examining it. "Ooooo that's so fascinating. I used to hear pretty music in my dreams, but I've never heard such pretty sounds before in the real world." Jeri poked the pipe gently making sure it was real. She smiled at Winter and waved hello again. "I'm Jeri by the way. I just got here a couple of nights ago. Are you one of the mentors here, I've heard there are a couple of them." Jeri hadn't made friends in a long time and wasn't experienced in proper responses and she seemed to be rattling on without breathing.

"Oh, well, now you have" Winter told her, rather sad that she'd never heard music really before. "Maybe it was angel music in your dreams. My...my mom used to say that angels sing in people's dreams to help them not have nightmares, so maybe you heard the angels?" her mom hadn't told her that story since she was a little little girl, but Winter had always liked the idea. "I'm Winter, hello Jeri" she waved back good-naturedly but was quick to shake her head at the question on her being a mentor. "I'm one of the people who needs mentoring" she giggled. "Besides, I'm too young to be a mentor! But maybe one day" the younger girl certainly talked a lot, though Winter wasn't complaining. It was nice to have an opportunity to make friends again.

Jeri giggled along with Winter and hugged her abruptly. "It's so nice to meet you Winter. I like your name its so pretty. I love everything about the winter. I used to watch the snow fall from my cell and it always looked so pretty. Just everything about it is so magical" Jeri was excited to make another friend especially one that was her own age.

Winter jumped at the abrupt hug but hugged Jeri back after a moment. It felt nice to have some affection thrown her way. Her mom hadn't shown her any in a really long time. "The season is nice, just cold. It's probably the most magical time of the year" the other girl had spent most of her time in a cell? This made Winter sad. At least she'd gotten to go outside sometimes. And before she'd grown her horns she loved the outdoors. "Maybe when the snow comes this year you and I can build a snowman" she decided suddenly, her ears wiggling with her excitement. "If it's okay of course, but I don't see why it wouldn't be"

Jeri smiled at the girls eagerness. She listened to Winter as she talked about the winter and its magic. She cocked her head to the side as Winter mentioned a snowman. "What's a snowman? Is that the man in charge of making the snow and bringing it to us?" Jeri was confused but also very curious about this magical snowman. "I'd love to meet the snowman. I've never had the chance to meet him."

Winter blinked. Jeri didn't know what a snowman was? "No, no. You're thinking Jack Frost, he's a tricky boy who makes the frost on windows and causes snowdays. He's the one who controls winter. A snowman is a...a thing people make. They make three balls of snow and then make it look like a person with stick arms and putting hats and scarves on them and they have carrot noses" Winter smiled wistfully, remembering making one with her mom when she was nine. She had given it her own hat and had rested a shovel on a twig arm. The smile had been made of sunflower seeds.

Jeri tried to wrap her mind around the idea of what Winter was talking about. "I think I have an idea of what you're saying but you might have to show me when it snows here." Jeri thought about watching the snow fall from the little window in her cell where she had been kept. "I'm looking forward to living here and seeing all the magical things throughout the years." Jeri still had her excitement about the camp and she was constantly smiling at all the mutants around her.
